Overcoming anxiety and enjoying life through food, fitness and wellbeing

About

Hi! I’m Jen Isaac, and welcome to my blog, lovenourishenjoy.  I will be posting information and tips about how I overcome and manage my anxiety and depression through focussing on my own wellbeing, and how you can do the same!

What is #lovenourishenjoy ?  It’s the motto I now live by, and challenge you all to do the same.  It is loving yourself, taking care of yourself and putting yourself first.  It is nourishing your body and mind, with nutrition, with exercise, with mindfulness.  It is enjoying life, doing what you love to do and what makes you happy.

Having suffered with anxiety and depression for just over a year, being happy and healthy in myself, taking care of myself and, most importantly, loving myself has never been such a priority for me as it is today.

I have had a passion for health and fitness for the last 6 years or so, and in 2011 I achieved a huge weight loss that really boosted my confidence and helped me to come out of my shell.  About 8 months ago though, I went from going to the gym several times a week to not going at all.  I had no energy and no desire to exercise, and to be honest I was eating for comfort so my food choices were not nutritious.

I was stuck in my anxiety state and felt like a real mess.  I knew that getting back into exercise would be beneficial and yet I couldn’t think of anything worse than going back to the gym.

Sound familiar? Don’t worry, I can help to show you how you can manage your own anxiety and/or depression through making some simple lifestyle changes.

Fast-forward to today, and I am so proud of myself.  Putting my health and wellbeing at the top of my priority list has changed my life.  I train 3-4 times per week, I rest when I need to rest (listen to your body guys!), I take time for myself, to do things I enjoy, and I eat intuitively – that is, eating healthily without restricting or counting calories, no tracking, I eat for fuel and for pleasure 🙂

I have recently joined #GirlGains as a local ambassador for the Buckinghamshire area and I am thrilled to be a part of this movement.  Looking forward to holding my first event in Milton Keynes very soon and encouraging and inspiring more women to be fitter, healthier and happier.  Stay tuned!
